Watch me make the Axolotl Step-by-Step
Step 1: Crafting the Gills
Let’s kick things off by sculpting the gills of our axolotl.

Shape six equally sized long ovals from beige foam clay and attach them to toothpicks. Add texture to mimic the look of the gills using a craft knife.

Now put them to the side and let them dry a little. It will make it easier later on.
Step 2: Preparing the Body and Tail
Next, take your white foam clay and mold it into an oval-shaped body, with a pointed top and a thicker, round bottom.
Shape a cone from brown foam clay and curve it to one side.

Attach a toothpick to the back of the body and affix the tail onto it.
Create a realistic texture by adding lines with a craft knife to a flattened beige clay log, then attach it to the tail.

Step 4: Adding Legs and Arms
Form two equally sized balls for the legs and attach them to the body with glue.

Shape two small logs for the arms and affix them to the sides of the body.
Step 5: Sculpting the Head
Shape a flattish ball for the head and attach the pre-made gills (three on each side).

Use a pointy tool to create eye sockets and add black foam clay balls as eyes. Secure everything with glue.
Step 6: Achieving the S’more Look
To give our axolotl that adorable s’more appearance, dust some brown pastels all over for a roasted marshmallow effect.

Create a graham cracker base using a mold and fill it with brown clay. Shade it with some brown pastels to give it a baked look.
Apply brown hot glue for the chocolate, spreading it onto the cookie base and addint eh axolotl before it dries.

Add some more “chocolate” to the axolotl’s head, arms, legs, and tail.
Step 7: Finalizing Facial Details
Finish off the facial features by using an acrylic pen to draw the mouth.

Add a touch of shine to the eyes with maker’s magic using a paintbrush to apply.

Add some pink pastels to the cheeks as a blush.
Voila! You’ve just crafted your very own foam clay axolotl, complete with a delicious s’more twist. This charming creation makes for a delightful addition to your craft collection or a unique gift for any animal lover. So, get crafting and let your imagination swim free!
