Why Foam Clay is so AMAZING!
Crafting with foam clay is not just about creating cute figures; it’s like a therapy session that’s all about relaxation and pure enjoyment. Imagine the joy of squishing, molding, and creating without any mess – that’s the beauty of foam clay! It’s not just for the kids; adults can totally get in on the fun too.
So, if you’re looking for a creative outlet that’s soothing and brings out your inner artist, foam clay is the way to go! It’s a fantastic indoor activity for the whole fam! No Day goes by without my son asking for some squishy foam clay time. And the best part is when it dries it does not crumble like playdough would. Not even if it’s left under the couch or forgotten in some corner. What are you waiting for? let’s get those creative vibes flowing together! 🌈✨

WATCH ME MAKE A SHEEP STEP BY STEP IN THIS VIDEO
STEP 1: FORM THE BODY
Take your white foam clay and start by creating 11 nickel-sized balls. These will become the fluffy body of our sheep. Don’t worry if they are not all the same size. It will make your sheep unique.
Roll them between your palms with a good amount of pressure to get a smooth surface. Then ensure they have the roundness that you desire.
STEP 2: CRAFT THE HEAD
Next, take your black foam clay and shape it into one larger ball. Flatten one end of it a bit. This will be the head of our sheep. Remember to use a good amount of pressure to get that smooth surface.
STEP 3: ASSEMBLE THE SHEEP
Now, gather all the white balls you created earlier and press them together to form one big ball. This will serve as the body of your sheep.
Attach the black ball (the head) to the body. Position it to your liking, and don’t worry, there’s no right or wrong way to do it.
STEP 4: CREATE THE EARS
Shape two tear-drop-like pieces out of your black foam clay. These will become the ears of your sheep.
Attach the ears near the head of your sheep, poking out of the wool. Remember, there’s no strict rule here – just follow your creative instincts.
STEP 5: LET YOUR SHEEP DRY
Now, it’s time to exercise some patience. Allow your foam clay sheep to dry for 24 hours, then flip it over to let the bottom dry as well.
While it’s drying, you can take a moment to explore our other barn animal tutorials for more easy kid’s crafts.
STEP 6: ADD FACIAL DETAILS
Once your sheep has dried, it’s time to give it a personality of its own. We’ll start by painting the face.
Using acrylic paint, take the end of a small paintbrush to create round eyes with ease. Dip it in white paint and place it where you want your sheep’s eyes to be.
Repeat the process with pink paint, applying it where you want your sheep’s cheeks to appear. Be sure to let the white paint for the eyes dry before moving on to the black details.
For the black eye details, you have a couple of options. You can use a Posca marker for precision, or if you prefer to paint, use a the end of a brush.
To make your sheep’s eyes truly irresistible, grab a toothpick and some white paint. Add two tiny dots of white paint in each black circle to create a gentle gleam in your sheep’s eyes. This extra detail will bring your creation to life.
Well Done! You made your adorable sheep and it’s now ready to be used in your easter crafts or other projects. What are you gonna name him?
