A simple way to get consistent, cute results — every time.
When working with foam clay, exact measurements can be tricky.
Different brands, humidity, and even how much you knead the clay can change how it behaves.
That’s why I use a volume-based size guide instead of weight or grams.
This guide helps take the guesswork out and keeps your creations looking balanced and consistent — especially when following my tutorials.
How This Size Guide Works
Instead of weighing clay, I measure by volume using one tool that has multiple different molds all in one place. Just press the clay into the specific mold the tutorial calls for and get it right every time.
No scale needed. No math. Only 1 tool.
Why I Use This Method
I’ve found that:
- Foam clay density changes depending on moisture
- Weight measurements can give inconsistent results
- Measuring in a mold is faster and more beginner-friendly
Using this tool helps:
✔ Keep proportions consistent
✔ Make projects easier to repeat
✔ Reduce frustration
✔ Create more polished results
Do I need this to follow the tutorials?
Not at all 💛
You can absolutely eyeball sizes and still make something adorable.
The size guide is simply there to:
- Remove guesswork
- Help if you’re new to foam clay
- Make repeat projects easier
About the Labeling
Over time, the labels on physical tools can rub off — that’s normal.
If that happens, you can always come back to this page and re-label your tool using the sizes shown here.
This guide is the reference I use for all of my printable recipes.
Size Guide Reference Chart

Using This Tool With My Tutorials
In my printable recipes I will always list the part we are working on followed by what mold to use – for example:
- Body – 37mm
- Head – 40mm
If there is 2 of the same part, like feet or eyes it will look like this:
- (2) Feet – 12mm
This just means you need two of them made in the 12mm mold.
To keep consistency in larger projects I may combine 2 or more molds like this:
- Body – 40mm + 37mm
this means you just combine the clay from those two molds to get one large volume
All printable recipes are built using this same system, so everything stays consistent. Here you can see an example version of a recipe.
💛 Final Note
You don’t need to be perfect to make something cute.
This guide is just a tool to help you feel more confident and relaxed while creating.
If you ever feel stuck — just relax, breath and squish your foam clay 💫
